Outriders Devastator Guide – Best Builds, Weapons & Tips

Introduction:

Outriders is the newest cooperative role-playing third-person video game set to be released on April the 1st, 2021 on PC, Playstation 4/5, Xbox and Stadia.

Outriders has four playable classes: Devastator, Pyromancer, Technomancer and Trickster. Each class has eight skills in total (for the time being in the DEMO we are allowed to test out four.) Only three skills can be equipped at a time. Each class has three sub-classes talent trees you can spec out and can be changed at any time.
In this guide we will be focusing mainly on the Devastator class.

Devastator - Outrideres

Skills and Abilities:

Out of all playable classes the Devastator has the tank role. His skills are based on Earth powers and Gravitational status effect. This class can absorb a lot of damage but with the right build it can dish out a big amount of damage as well. His Melee ability unlike the other classes has a specific status effect that is very useful and must use to apply this frequently. The beauty of being in their melee range is the fact that the only way to get a shield is by slaying enemies within your close range radius.
Devastator has a lot of talents that increase his armor and shield generated if you spec into them.

Healing Mechanic: You will recover Health from slain enemies that stood too close.

The first skill you unlock is Earthquake.

“Release a shockwave to deal damage and Interrupt all enemies in front of you.

Type: SIESMIC, INTERRUPT.

Shockwave’s cooldown is 14 seconds.

Basically shoots down a shockwave in front of you that damages and knocks down enemies, we have seen this skill in a very similar fashion with the Titan in D2.

The second skill you unlock is Golem.

“Fortify yourself against 65% of incoming damage for 8 seconds.

Type: PROTECTION.

Golem’s cooldown is 26 seconds.

Straightforward skill, just buff yourself in order to be tankier. Thats about it.

The third skill you unlock is Gravity Leap.

“Leap into the air and strike your targets from above, dealing damage and Interrupting enemies with a small radius of the area you land in.

Type: KINETIC, INTERRUPT.

Gravity Leap’s cooldown is 20 seconds.

This skill allows you to jump in the air and you get to decide where to drop. Once you drop down you knock down all enemies and it works as a sort of a gap closer.

The fourth skill you unlock is Reflect Bullets.

“Create a barrier that captures all enemy projectiles and accumulates damage. After 10 seconds of triggering the skill, the accumulated damage is reflected back to enemies in front of you. The barrier also protects against melee attacks by reflecting some damage back.”

Type: PROTECTION.

Reflect Bullets’ cooldown is 22 seconds.

This is by far the coolest skill the Devastator has. You basically summon an invisible barrier in front of you that blocks all bullets fired towards you.
You can move around the battlefield shielding your enemies and when it ends you can do even more damage with the bullets you have blocked being fired at the enemies.

There are also 4 other skills that are not out on the Demo yet and have yet to be tested.

NOT RELEASED ON THE DEMO YET – NEED TO BE TESTED

Level 9: Impale – Type – SEISMIC, INTERRUPT. Select a target to Interrupt their skills, inflict Bleed, and deal damage. If the damage is lethal, the enemy will be impaled, creating a zone that grants a powerful bonus to Armor and Health regeneration to all allies in range for 9 seconds.
Level 13: Tremor – Type – SEISMIC. Create a series of explosions around you, each dealing damage and draining Health from enemies within a medium radius around you.
Level 17: Boulderdash – Type: KINETIC, INTERRUPT. Charge forward to Interrupt all enemies in your path and deal damage. At the end of the charge, you will smash the ground and deal damage to all enemies in a small radius around you.
Level 22: Endless Mass – Type: KINETIC. Encase a target in stone, inflicting Bleed and pulling enemies within a small radius towards the initial target. The stone will then explode, dealing damage to all enemies within a small radius around the target.

Class Points and Talent Tree:

Class Points
The Devastator has 3 talent trees that you can use your Class points in: Vanquisher, Warden, Seismic Shifter.
Vanquisher is the close range combat talent tree. It will give you more armor and more weapon damage on Assault Rifles and Shotguns.
Warden is the ultimate spec tree that gives you a lot of armor, hp, shields that its primary focus is being a walking mountain.
Seismic Shifter is the damage talent tree of the class. It does damage over time damage with your anomalies and focuses on mid range combat.

Best Devastator build and recommended mods:

As mentioned above Reflect Bullets is the best skill this class has so you need to load up on as many mods about it as you can.
The Strongest First – “Reflect Bullets: The enemy with the most health takes 50% more damage.”
Very useful for damage output considering you literally just completed your job of tanking everything shot at you.
Bullet Acceleration – “Reflect Bullets: Increase the damage of reflected bullets by 25.”
Speaks for itself, a bump on the damage Reflect Bullets does.
Blood Primer – “Reflect Bullets: All the reflected bullets apply Bleed status.
A good mod for the Seismic Shifter build that already focuses on damage over time abilities.
Auto Reflect – “Reflect Bullets: You can now fight while the skill is active, but you cannot manually eactivate the skill. It only negates 50% of the damage.
This one is a bit tricky and its a players preferance to use it or not. It makes you able to cast spells and shoot while having Reflect Bullets up but it doesn’t block all of the damage.

Life Absorption – “Gravity Leap: Heal for 100% of damage dealt. If your target dies, heal for 200% damage dealt.
Useful to keep yourself up considering you can time your Gravity Leap on low HP targets and sustain yourself back up.
